Over lamination comes at a slight reduction of color contrast. Close comparison of an original print to one over-laminated with our matte "Artshield" film reveals a perceptible reduction in vibrancy with whites and pastel colors. Once your plaque is hanging on the wall, the difference is minimal.

Our "Artshield" film has ultra violet filters to protect your print and over-laminate from yellowing. ARTIPLAQ™ 'encapsulates your print so that oxygen will not get to it and cause it to fade. There is no filter to protect 100% from fading, but our UV laminate is the best solution to prolong the life and color of your print. We are often asked by folks who print their own images, if they should use archival inks and paper. Archival inks and papers will further the life of your print whether you plaque mount or not.

There are different methods and levels of quality involved in plaque manufacturing. Upon occasion, you may see art "wood mount" prints at big box stores. Typically, these are posters mounted or glued to pre-built box that has a spray-colored edge. Often the print is not laminated so if you were to clean the face, the ink may rub off. Or if it is laminated, it is usually a glossy laminate which reflects glare, and does not have UV protection.
ARTIPLAQ™ products are intended for indoor use only. Our wooden substrate, like any piece of furniture, absorbs moisture ; therefore, consistent temperature conditions are recommended. 



The ARTIPLAQ process does not affect the quality of your print. High quality inks and papers are always ideal. image 



Every ARTIPLAQ™ is custom made to order. There are no returns. Due to the permanence of each ARTIPLAQ it may not be the ideal choice for irreplaceable, one of a kind items or original artwork. We aim for perfection every time, but, if human or machine error occurs we will make every attempt to correct it or secure a replacement of up to $100. On the rare occasion a package is damaged in transit, please save the packaging and email us. We will make arrangements for UPS to retrieve the package and promptly get to work on your replacement.



Our nautical charts are pulled from the NOAA archives, resized (reduced and enlarged) and printed for decorative purposes and are NOT meant for navigation in any way. For accurate navigational purposes NOAA updates their navigational charts frequently. Our charts are NOT UPDATED FOR NAVIGATIONAL PURPOSES. Resizing and printing NOAA charts may reduce or enlarge a chart, making the stated scale on the chart invalid or inaccurate. This can happen in the software that prepares the chart for printing or even when the chart is sent to the printer. Please contact us if the charts you are ordering will be used for professional purposes. For the Coast Guard, or any order meant for navigation, we will ensure the charts we send are accurate within the tolerances set by NOAA. For up to date accuracy chart orders we turn to The Frugal Navigator, this print shop has been vetted by NOAA and approved for printing NOAA charts. They understand the need for scale accuracy and are extremely careful not to change the size of the chart if it is being used for navigation or some related task such as measuring distance.



Please contact us if you need your order sooner than our standard 2-3 week turn around. The rush fee is 15% of your order, plus an optional expedited shipping fee. If you are mailing in your order, please be sure to track and insure your package so you know it arrived.

ARTiPLAQ™ is a permanent process and cannot be reversed, therefore, we do not recommend ARTiPLAQ™ for one-of-a kind items, irreplaceable items. Mold, tears, raw edges, stickers will not mounted well, but a flat, clean smooth surface is ideal for ARTIPLAQ™.



Position your ARTiPLAQ™on the wall in desired location. Find the center top of the desired location. With light pencil or painters tape mark the wall at the center top point of the desired ARTiPLAQ™ location Find distance “A”: Measure the distance from the top of the ARTiPLAQ™ to the channel on the back. From the mark on the wall measure down distance “A”. This is the location for the wall anchor and screw. Install anchor and screw. Note: The channel is designed for 1 #8 round head screw. For setting your screw into drywall we recommend using a dry wall anchor. If the screw location hits a stud, no anchor is required. Other types of anchors are available for plaster, brick or cement walls. Ask your hardware store professional if you have questions. The screw(s) should be set to a depth that will result in a small amount of friction between the wall and the ARTiPLAQ™. Ideally, the underside of the screw head is approximately 1/8th of an inch from the wall. Some trial and adjustment may be necessary. With your screw(s) properly anchored into the wall, rest the back of the ARTiPLAQ™ against the screw and slide up or down until the screwhead engages into the end of the channel. Pressing the ARTiPLAQ™ against the wall, slide it to the center of the slot. For a wide ARTiPLAQ™ there are 2 routed slots, so you would need one screw for each slot. You will need a level and pencil to mark the wall BEFORE you drill. If the ARTiPLAQ™ has two channels, engage one screw into a channel, then slide the ARTiPLAQ™ back past the other screw to engage the other screw. Lastly, reverse the direction to center the ARTiPLAQ™ on the pair. Congratulations in advance for a job well done!
